Abstract
Acid soils in South Sumatra have low availability of phosphorus. Currentstudy was a green house experiment investigating effect of soil ameliorants onpopulation of P-solubilizing bacteria (PSB), P availability and sweet com growth inUltisols. This experiment tested 8 treatments, i. e. untreated soil (control), PSBinoculation, Organic Matter application, Lime application, PSB + Organic Matter,PSB + Lime, Organic Matter + Lime, and PSB + Organic Matter + Lime. The resultsproved that PSB inoculation and lime application corrected the PSB population and Pavailability, consecutively. The best growth of sweet coms was observed on thosereceiving combination of Organic Matter + Lime.
