Abstract
Flowers of sukun (Artocarpus communis) had been used by local peoples as mosquito repellent. Some researchers have reported that flowers of sukun can kill effectively adult mosquito using electric matt experiment but as larvacidal has never reported yet. This research was conducted larvacidal test from methanol extract of sukun flowers against mosquito Aedes aegypti larva instar the third with observation time 24 and 48 hours and concentration variations 24, 50, 75 and 100 ppm. The test had been done by 4 times repetition and abate as positif control. After that, isolation compound from methanol extract of sukun flowers through a series of work including extraction, fractination and purification compound using VLC (vacuum liquid chromatography), (GCC) gravity column chromatography and FCC (fast column chromatography). The purity test had been done using TLC (thin layer chromatography) with three of eluent system. Larvacidal test exhibited methanol extract active as larvacidal with LC50 = 47,355 ppm and observation time during 48 hours. A compoud have benn isolated from methanol extract of sukun flowers, TLC test always show one spot with 3 eluens system. Structure elucidation using (UV, IR, NMR (ID dan 2D) spectra showed that the isolated compound is flavanone type of flavonoid which substitued by a geranyl at C-8 which cyclized withA ring of flavanone. Based on the comparison with literature data it is sugested that the compound is cycloaltilisin.
