Abstract
The incidence of premature rupture of membranes (PROM) are ranged between 8% - 10% of all pregnancies. PROM can caused preterm labor, chorioamniotis, hypoxia, and asphyxia that have impact on increased morbidity and mortality rate among maternal and infant. The purpose of this research is to find the factors associated with PROM. This study used a case - control study design. The population of this research were all pregnant women who perform labor in regional public hospital H. Abdoel Madjid Batoe Batanghari, Jambi. The samples of this research were pregnant women who perform labor in regional public hospital H. Abdoel Madjid Batoe Batanghari, Jambi in 2017 chosen based on simple random sampling method. The number of samples in this research were 156 samples consisting of 52 cases and 104 controls. The statistical test used is multiple logistic regression test with prediction model. There were three variables related to PROM was parity p-value=0,035), anemia (p-value=0,24) and preeclampsia (p-value=0,023) after controlled by gravidity, pregnancy interval, history of abortion, and multifetal pregnancy. There were no relation between maternal age (p-value=0,704), gravidity (p-value=0,105), pregnancy interval (p-value=0,278), employment status (p-value=0,952), fetal malposition (p-value=0,631), history of abortion (p-value=0,330), and multifetal pregnancy (p-value=0,271) with premature rupture of membranes incidence. The most dominant variable related to PROM is preeclampsia (p-value=0,023, OR= 3,721; CI=1,199–11,549) after controlled by parity, gravidity, pregnancy interval, anemis, history of abortion, and multifetal pregnancy.. Pregnant women are expected to do antenatal care regularly, maintanance blood pressure within the normal range by paying attention to food consumed, and consult with doctor before planning a pregnancy, especially for mothers who plan a second pregnancy and so on.
