Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and aggressiveness in adolescent users of online mobile games with elements of violence. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship between emotional maturity and: (1) Aggressiveness; (2) Physical Aggression; (3) Verbal Aggression; (4) Anger; and (5) Hostility to teenagers using online mobile games that contain elements of violence. Respondents in this study were 122 teenagers using online mobile games with elements of violence. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used is the emotional maturity scale which refers to aspects of McCloskey (2014) and the aggressiveness scale which refers to the components of Buss and Perry (1992). Data analysis in this study was carried out using the Pearson product moment correlation technique. The results of the correlation analysis showed that all variables produced a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05) and had a significant negative relationship with emotional maturity with details: (1) aggressiveness (r = -0.622); (2) physical aggression (r = -0.396); (3) verbal aggression (r = -0.535); (4) anger (r = -0.539); (5) hostility (r = -0.597). Thus, all hypotheses proposed in this study can be accepted.
