Abstract

The objectives of this research was to evaluate the effectivity SSCE against antracnose disease on chili pepper and mode of disease suppression on SSCE against antracnose on chili pepper. The study was conducted in field of chili pepper in Gembala Company, Inderalaya and Laboratory of Phytopathology, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University Inderalaya. The research was started from June until September 2006. Effectivity of controlling disease studied based on suppresion disease on plant which sprayed 1% and 2% of SSCE with one and twice applications. The effect of SSCE on growth and sporulation of Colletotrichum capsici were observed mainly on coloni growth and sporulation by add 1% SSCE (direct and indirect mixed) in malt extract agar. The results showed that twice spraying of 2% (v/v) SSCE suppresed expansion of antracnosa disease caused by C. capsici on chili pepper in plant was 94%. The coloni growth of C. capsici did not suppress by SSCE directly, but ffesh SSCE could obstruct the sporulation of C. capsici.
