Abstract
The objective of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of the Xenorhabdus bacteria in controlling damping off and root knot nematode on chilli. conducted in Nemathology Laboratory, Micology and Greenhouse, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of The The research was laboratory Agriculture, Sriwijaya University Indralaya, from June to August 2007. The effectiveness of Xenorhabdus bacteria in controlling damping off was arranged by description methode that show by tabulation with 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment were a (chilli with Rhizoclonia and fungicide), b (chilli with Xenorhabdus bacteria and Rhizoclonia), c (chilli with Rhizoctonia). effectiveness Xenorhabdus bacteria in controlling damping off and root knot nematode was arranged in a completely randomized designe with 6 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were A (control without application), B (chilli with Meloidog)>ne and Rhizoctonia). C (chilli with Meloidogyne), D (chilli with Xenorhabdus, Meloidogyne and Rhizoctonia), E (chilli with Xenorhabdus and Meloidogyne), F (Chili with nematicide and Meloidogyne). The The result showed that the Xenorhabdus bacteria suppressed post-emergence damping-off and diseases severity. The bacteria increased the plant height with average percentage was 121,24%. The research showed that the Xenorhabdus bacteria, significantly reduced nematode population in the rhizosphere and reduced the number off gali.
