Abstract

The aim of this research is to assess the soil suitability for dry land rice on Tydal area in Delta Telang I, Primary 8, Banyuasin District. carried out on typology A ofTydal area in Telang Karya (P8-12S) village, DeltaSoil analysis wasThis research wasTelang I of Banyuasin District, Sonth Sumatra Province.Soil Science Departement Laboratory of Agricultural Faculty,conducted at.This research was carried out from September up toSriwijaya University.December 2007.The method used in this research was survey at intensive level. Soil sampleswere taken by using grid system with distance 50 m deliver points of augering.Based on texture, pH, ground water level and thedepth of pyrite, the land of studyarea is divided in to 13 Soil Mapping Units (SMUs).The result of soil analysis shows that N-total is low to middle (0,20 - 0,49 %), P205 available is middle to very high (16,8315 - 106,8285 pg g'1, K20 available is low (0,2299 - 0,3872 cmol(+)kg'1) and CEC is low (12,83 - 15,66 cmol(+)kg‘).The soil suilablity of study area is various, that is : S3f (marginally suitable which is limited by nutrient retention) for SMU A, D, F, H, J and K. By using inputs (lime, fertilizer and water management) to overcome the limiting factors, these SMUs can be Sj for A and D, S2r for F, H, J and K as potensial moderatelysuitability. Actual suitability for SMUs B, C, E, G, I, L and M are S2rfn, S2fn, S3rf,S2rfh, S2rfn, S3rf and S3rf. For SMUs B, G and I need inputs (lime, fertilizer andwater management) to be come Sj> S2r and S2r. SMU C needs lime and fertilizer tobe come S\. SMU E needs lime, fertilizer and water management to be come S\.SMUs L and M need lime, fertilizer and water management to be come S2r aspotensial moderately suitability.
