Abstract
Descriptive research aimed to know the abundance of plankton type has been done in the waters of Lebak Keranji River, District of Ilir Barat I, Palembang City. The study was conducted from April to May 2017 using descriptive method. The sampling technique was conducted qualitatively by choosing the sampling point by purposive. Data were analyzed descriptively to determine the abundance and comparison between the three observation stations. The results of this study found seventeen types of plankton, which belong to seven classes. The types that are found are; Scenedesmus intermedius, Dictyosphaerium pulchellum, Spirogyra neglecta, Hyalotheca sp, Closterium acerosum, Flagiariforma horstii, Frustulia rhomboides, Amphora ovalis, Ditylum brightwelli, Bangia sp, Euglena acus, Phacus orbicularis, Lepocinclis marssoni, Chlamydodon sp, Eutintinnus rugosus, Tintinopsis kofoldi, Arcella vulgaris. Overall, the three stations have an abundance of phytoplankton is 279 individuals/liter and zooplankton is 156 induvidu/liter. Observation stations that have the highest abundance are Station I, which is phytoplankton 54 individuals/liter and zooplanton 45 individuals/liter. The results of this study can be a source of learning as information in learning the types of protista for students of class X Basic Competence 3.6 Applying classification principles to classify protista based on the general characteristics of the class and its role in life through careful observation and systematic. 4.6 Plan and carry out observations on the characteristics and roles of protists in life and present observations in the form of model / chart which will be contributed in the form of the learner's Worksheet
