Abstract
Aims of this research were to design a bamboo raft and to examine the kangkung growth and production on a bamboo raft. The research was conducted on swampland at Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research method used bamboo rafts wish the size of 300 cm length x 150 cm width for cultivation kangkung on swampland. Thisresearch was done on a floating raft, each raft used different growth media. The firstraft or Ri used only swampland as much as 300 kg and the second raft or R2 used150 kg compost and 150 kg soil. There were 55 kangkung plants in each raft andplant sampled were taken 10 plants ffom each raft. This research is used some steps to maked a bamboo raft, the steps were making the base raft, the wali raft, unitey the base and the wali. Results of this research, showed that there were a significant difference plants growth of kangkung between compost an soil treatments researched plants on a bamboo raft. Results of t test analysis indicated that plants, it was showed that compost indicated plant height, leaf number and soil moisture content. The compost also affected plant fresh weight, dried weight and dried root significantly composed to without compost treatment on a bamboo raft. The results showed that the fresh kangkung product was 7.59 kg compost application and 1.09 kg on soil only. Thecompost could increase cation exchange capacity, organic matter, pH, N, P, K, Caand Mg. While the results of water analysis showed pH of the water was 5.03 andsodium contained in water was very high. While elements of K, Ca and Mg in thewater was very low. It is recommended to use the methode of compost and soil asmedia for kangkung production on a bamboo raft.
