Abstract
The purpose of this study are to design a bamboo rafi in the swampy land and the growth and yield of rice (Oryza sativa) on a this raft. This research was conducted in the swampy land at Indralaya Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University of South Sumatra. This research method used was made of floating bamboo farm model with a size of 300 cm x 150 cm , and the treatment was compost and mineral application. The Research was conducted ffom June 2010 until Februaryassess2011.This study consists of several in creating a bamboo raft such as: making abase of bamboo raft, making the walls of the raft, and unification of walls and base. This research was carried out on bamboo rafts, each raft using different growthmedia and data were analysed using t-test. The first raft using compost with a ratio of 200 kg of soil and compost as much as 200 kg, while the second raft using media without compost with total soil of 400 kg, there were 11 plants as replication in eachraft. The results showed that rice plants could be grown on a bamboo raft, whether using media or without compost. Based on the results of t test analysis shows that compost treatment significantly increased plant height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers, grain number and amount of empty grain, but there isno whereas significant diffrent in the time of primordia. Production of rice plantsshowed the following results: the number of pithy grain rice plants using compostthat is 969.50 while the number of grains of rice paddy pithy media without compostis 668.40 grains. The effects of compost on the soil fertility, can increase the cation exchangecapacity, organic matter, pH, nutrients N, P, K, Ca and Mg. The results show that theplanting medium has a clay texture berpasir. Water analysis showed pH of the water is sour, To obtain a high production output on a bamboo raft it is advisable to use themedia to use compost.
