Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the most effective of attractant of fruit flies: Bactrocera spp. and to know the period of attractant for trapped fruitflies.The research was conducted on Momordica sp areas in Tanjung SetekoInderalaya Village, Ogan Ilir Regency ffom March to may 2007. The research wasarranged in a Completely Randomized Blocked Design with five tretments and fivereplications. The observations were the amoumt and species of fruit flies trapped andeffectivity period of attractant plant.The results showed two species of oriental fruit flies : Bacrocera dorsalisHend and Bactrocera cucurbitae Fab. The number of B. dorsalis was 1407 individuesand B. cucurbitae was trapped 10 individues. B. dorsalis were trapped on Cinnamomum champhora, oil of Syzygium aromaticum L; Ocimum canum; Apium graveolens L; and Morus alba, While B. Cucurbitae were trapped on M. alba, S. aromaticum L. and A. graveolens. The longest effective period was S. aromaticum and shortes one was O. canum
