Abstract
The research was conducted in area red pepper plant in Pangkal Pinang andareaannuumSei Rambutan Village, Inderalaya district, South Sumatra from September to November 2005. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of dose of methyl eugenol in time to capture fruit fly Bactrocera spp. and the number of male fruit fly captured in trap.The research was arranged in a randomized block design, with 5 treatment and 5 replications. The treatments were A: 0.25 ml methyl eugenol per trap. B: 0.50 ml methyl eugenol per trap. C: 0.75 ml methyl eugenol per trap. D: 1.00 mlmethyl eugenol per trap. E: 1.25 ml methyl eugenol per trap.The observations were the amount and species of fruit fly capture andefectivity period of methyl eugenol.The results showed that the best dose to capture fruit flies was 0.75 ml ofmethyl eugenol. The highest number of fruit fly trapped and high effectivity periodwas on the dose of 0.75 ml methyl eugenol. The identification of the species showed there was one species of fruit fly i.e Bactrocera dorsalis Hend.
