Abstract

This study was aimed to determine various oils as attractant sources on fruit flies, the effective time of each oil and to count the fruit flies population and species trapped. All observations were conducted on chili farms and took place in Pelabuhan Dalam Pemulutan Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regeny. Study was carried from April to May 2007. Completely Randomized Block Design by five treatments and five replications was applied. Results of study showed that there were two species of fruit flies identified. They were Bactocera dorsalis dan B. umbosus. The numbers of B. dorsalis and B. umbosus trapped were 1630 and 9 respectively. B. dorsalis and B. umbosus were found on essential oil of Syzygium aromaticum L, Cinnamomum camphora, B. umbosus was found only on Apium graveonlens and Morus alba. Essential oils from S. aromaticum and C. camphora lasted longer than others.
