Abstract
The objectives of the research wasto study the effects of rhizome powder of temulawak, alpinia and turmeric, given as various treatments, against the population development of Sitophilus zeamais Motsch (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) under laboratory conditions.The experiment was arranged in a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD) with two factors and five treatment for which each treatment combinationswas replicated three times. The treatment factor were powder source (temulawak,alpinia, turmeric), and powder doses ( 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 g powder per 100 g maize grain) The parameter observed were adult mortality and population.The result of this research showed that alpinia poeder more effective iin reyarding the development of S. zeamais. The doses of 2 g and above were found to be effective to retard the development S. zeamais. The interaction between alpinia powder and 2 g dosege could effectively suppress the development of S. zeamais.
