Abstract

The objectives of the experiment were to investigate the ability of isolates Penicillium spp. and Trichoderma spp. to reduce damping-off diseases caused by R. solani and also to find out the ability enhancement of plant growth of eggplant seedling. The experiment were conducted in Phytopathology Laboratory and Green-house Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University, frora June 2006-January 2007. The results indicated that the ability of isolates Penicillium and Trichoderma to suppress damping off was variously. The average of percentage of suppression against pre-emergence damping-off, post-emergence damping-off and diseases severity by isolates Penicillium were 23,08%, 91,41% and 82,50% respectively, and by isolates Trichoderma were 28,57%, 86,40% and 65,82% respectively. Plants treated with isolates Penicillium provided percentage of the increasing of high and fresh weight of eggplant seedling 14,04% and 3,47%, while isolates Trichoderma provided 10,32% and 3,92%.
