Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul analisis vegetasi pada lahan tergenang di Mile Post (MP) 19 kawasan pengendapan pasir sisa tambang PT. Freeport Indonesia Kabupaten Mimika Papua ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis vegetasi yang terdapat di lahan tergenang Mile Post (MP) 19 kawasan pengendapan pasir sisa tambang PT. Freeport Indonesia ditinjau dari struktur dan komposisi vegetasinya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2010 sampai dengan Mei 2010, bertempat di PT. Freeport Indonesia, Kabupaten Mimika, Papua. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode jalur atau transek. Pada tiap-tiap transek dibuat plot ukuran 20 x 20 m untuk tingkat pohon, 10 x 10 m untuk tingkat tiang, 5x5 untuk tingkat pancang dan 2 x 2 m untuk tingkat semai-tumbuhan bawah. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan 49 spesies yang tergolong dalam 28 famili. Vegetasi jenis Pandanus lauterbachii dan Campnosperma brevipetiolata mendominasi pada tingkat pohon, jenis Glochidion macrocarpa. dan Timonius timon. mendominasi pada tingkat tiang, jenis Homalanthus sp dan Premna corymbosa mendominasi pada tingkat pancang, serta jenis Phragmites karka dan Neprolepis cardifolia mendominasi pada tingkat semai-tumbuhan bawah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah jumlah jenis vegetasi yang terdapat di Mile Post (MP) 19, dengan Indeks Keanekaragaman spesies secara keseluruhan pada semua tingkat perawakan termasuk kedalam kategori sedang melimpah dengan nilai 1 <3.
