Abstract

The research was to know the number of catched fruit flies, its species and efectivity period ffom any dosage of metil eugenol in catching fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) on Jack fruits. The research was conducted on 5 areas that was Kelurahan Bukit Lama, Bukit Baru, Demang Lebar Daun, Lorok Pakjo and Kelurahan Kemang Manis in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I, Palembang ffom September to November 2005. The research was arranged in Grouply Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications. The observations were species and amount of fruit fly caught and efectivity period of metil eugenol. The results showed that the highest number of trapped adults was given by 1.25 ml metil eugenol, while the lowest is 0.25 ml. For the highest of effectivity period was by 1.25 ml metil eugenol, while shortest is 0.25 ml. The Identification of the species showed there were two species of fruit fly that was Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. and Bactrocera umbrosus Fab.
