Abstract

Beauveria bassiana is a soil fungi found in all over the world. This fungi is pathogenic onto young and adult insect. The objective of this research was to figure the mortality larvae P. xylostella after with isolates fungi B. bassiana on the larvae of P. Xylostella on Chinese cabbage shrubbery. The hypothesis proposed in this research was that enthomopathogenic fungi B. bassiana isolate PD2 was suggested to be the most effectiveness isolate against larvae of P. xylostella in the field. The research was conducted in chinese cabbage shrubbery in Talang Buruk, Palembang, started from December 2004 until February 2005. During this research, the average daily temperature was 26.85 °C, relative humidity was 84.69 °C and the rainfall was 10.33 mm. The concentration of B. bassiana used in the research was 105 conidia/ml with a doses of 100 ml/m2. The application was done at a week interval in chinese cabbage shrubbery at 3 and 10 days after planting. observation was done before application, one day and two days after application of B. bassiana or at the ages of 3, 4, 6, 10, 11 and 13 days after planting. In the first planting period (December 2004) WC, PD2, CCW3, KBC and PD8 isolates, while in the second planting period (February 2005) were used isolates 10 G, S10o, BBL, JTM2 and PD,.TheThe observations were done in the final days, at the age of 13 days after planting, it was showed that the lowest damage caused by P. xylostella occurred inthe first period (December 2004) was in area sprayed by WC isolate i. e. 0.7%. In the second period (February 2005) the lowest one was found in area sprayed with Sioo isolate i. e. 0.87%.The population of P. xylostella tend to decrease after application of B. bassiana. The highest capacity of B. bassiana spores to germinate was 27.3% found on CCW3 isolate and the lowest one was 13.67% found on BBL isolate.Larvae and pupae of P. xylostella infected by B. bassiana were showed by symptomof body’s discoloration, from fresh green became brownish black and finallymummified. Based on the research result, it was concluded that three isolates withhighest effectiveness in controlling B. bassiana were WC (90.65%), PD2 (88.12%)andPDg (82.78%).
