Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the fiber fraction content of three swamp grasses which potential as feed ruminant at Ogan Ilir Regency South Sumatra.This research was conducted in swamp area at Ogan Ilir Regency SouthSumatra and in Laboratory Nutritive of Ruminant and Chemical Feed of Husbandry Faculty Padjadjaran Univercity from July to September 2007. This experiment was done with observation to find out the grass species, production, and the quality of thegrass that became feed ruminant. The grass samples were collected in the swampfield by quadrant square (50 cm x 50 cm). The total of repetition based on the tuming area that was observed. Then , grass was according to the species. Fiber fraction was analysed by Van Soest method suel as NDF, ADF, Cellulose, Hemisellulose, Lignin, and Silica that used three samples of swamp grass which dominant with three repetition.The results showed that swamp area was dominated by tree species of grass, namely Hymenachne amplexicaulis, Ischaemum rugosum and Oryza rufipogon. Hymenachne amplexicaulis contained NDF 71,00 %, ADF 41,07 %, Cellulose 36,32 %, Hemicellulose 29,93 %, Lignin 3,68 % and Silica 0,75 %. Ischaemum rugosum contained NDF 68,02 %, ADF 40,39 %, Cellulose 36,03 %, Hemisellulose 27,62 %,Lignin 4,45 % and Silica 1,24 %. Oryza rufipogon contained NDF 67,89 %, ADF38,03 %, Cellulose 34,21 %, Hemisellulose 29,86 %, Lignin 3,65 % and Silica 1,16%.
