Abstract
The reseach has been done about effect of pure asiaticoside compound (triterpen) from pegagan (Centella asiatica (L) Urban) to cognitive ability (learning and memorizing) and toxicity effect in female mice {mus musculus) by oral. The data on the process of learning and memorizing were obtained through a passive avoidance test. The data were analyzed using ANOVA which were then followed by BNT test with significant of p<0.05. The result of the study shows that asiaticoside (triterpen) from pegagan {Centella asiatica (L) Urban) giving the effect cognitive of learning and memorizing at dose 40 mg/kg BB wich is indicated by the significant compared to that of the control group (p<0.05), but it was not significantly different to piracetam 500 mg/kg BB. The result of toxicity effect showed that no effect toxic in stomach and brain, while at dose 160 mg/kg BB because lipid accumulation (steatosis) in heart. So at dose 160 mg/kg BB say that toxic.
