Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigated the effects various fertilizer of nitrogen on the growth of weeds and young gambir. The experiment was conducted at Toman village, Babat Toman, Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatera, fromOctober 2003 to January 2004.Method used in this research was randomized block design with six treatmentsand four replications. The treatments were : Pi = NPK (15:15:15), P2 = cow manureP3 = ZA, P4 = chicken manure, P5 = Urea, and = goat manure.The result showed that the weeds was effected by the treatments significantly and the growth of young gambir was effected by the treatments unsignificantly. There were 22 of weeds, where the dominance weeds, were Borreria alata, Portulacca oleraceae, Cyperus rotimdus, and Melastoma affine.Chicken manure gave the best result on vegetative growth of crop such as plant height, primary branch number, and leaves number compared to other treatments, then that followed by goat manure, NPK (15:15:15), cow manure, urea and Z A.
