Abstract
Impregnation between chitosan from snail shells and cellulose from Acacia mangium Wild has been carried out. The result of separation chitosan and cellulose were characterized by FT-IR, water content, ash content and deacetylation degree of chitosan. The yield of chitosan and cellulose respectively were 17.33% and 15.8%. Chitosan has 0.0129% water content, 14.38% ash content and degree of deacetylation 71.84%. Cellulose has 0.0477% water content and 2.78% ash content. Time interaction effects gives a rate constant of Cr3+ metal ion adsorption with adsorbent chitosan, cellulose and chitosan-cellulose impregnation with the order 0.0071, 0.0013 and 0.0109 minutes"1. The influence of Cr3+metal ion gives adsorption capacity with the order 1.69x1 O'4, 1.45x1 O'4 and 1.74x 10^ mol/g, and adsorption energv with the order 30.62, 30.13 and 31.21 Interaction of adsorbent with kJ/mol. Cr + metal ion was Chemical interaction with complex formation contribution using desorbent EDTA.
