Abstract

This study aims to determine the paradiplomacy efforts carried out by the Batam City government to improve Batam's economy, especially in terms of foreign investment. Batam itself is one of the sub-national governments in Indonesia that carries out international relations activities with several neighboring countries such as Singapore and South Korea. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods and uses the concept of paradiplomacy from Alex Sergunin and Pertti Joenniemi. The data used by the author in this study is secondary data. The results of the study indicate that the paradiplomacy carried out by Batam City focuses on the economic sector and the exchange of information in various fields. Various things such as the ease of investment procedures and the provision of various facilities and services at tourist attractions provided by Batam create a good atmosphere which can be seen from increased investment and increased cooperation from foreign companies every year.
