Abstract
The secondary metabolite had been isolated and identification from methanol extract of pole plants of katemas (Euphorbia geniculata Ortega). The extraction of secondary metabolite was done by maseration method. Separation and purification were done by chromatography techniques. The isolated compound was a white solid with melting point 155-158°C. The structure of isolated compound was determined based on spectral data IR, 'HNMR, 13CNMR dan DEPT. Based on analysis of spectral data, the isolated compound is a triterpenoid. Then, the isolated compound and extract compound was tested antibacterial by using disk diffusion method with Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli bacterial. Antibacterial activity of methanol extract was strong activity in 10000 ppm concentration for Bacillus subtilis with inhibition zone as 10,8 mm and the isolated compound was weak activity in 10000 ppm concentration for Bacillus subtilis with inhibition zone as 7 mm. The isolated compound and extract compound were tested by E. coli bacterial show no antibacterial activity.
