Abstract
The experiment was intended to identificate the best media composition for growth and yield of pennywort (Centella asiatica L. Urban). The experiment was done in the shading house of Agricultural Faculty University of Sriwijaya, started from December 2008 up to April 2009. The experimental method of this research was Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and four replicates, so the total were 20 treatments. Each treatment consisted of three plants, there were 60plants. The treatments were Mi = soil without chicken manure, M2 = 1 part soil : 1part chicken manure, M3 = 2 part soil : 1 part chicken manure, M4 = 3 part soil : 1part chicken manure and M5 = 4 part soil: 1 part chicken manure.The results showed that treatments of various media composition of mixture soil and chicken manure significantly affected to all of parameters growth and yield pennywort. The highest of the result showed in composition of media M2 = 1 part soil : 1 part chicken manure. The parameters were increasing of leaf number = 15,13 leaves/two weeks, increasing of offsrings number = 5,00 stems/two weeks, increasing of plant length = 8,47 cm/two weeks, total of area leaf = 250,87 cm2/two weeks, root length = 19,15 cm, ffesh weight = 40,59 g and dry weight = 5,09 g.
