Abstract

The research objectives were to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer (NAP and NS) at various unorganic fertilizer levels in order to increase growth and yield of maize and to decrease the need for unorganic fertilizer. The research was conducted at Balai Teknologi Terpadu (ATP), Bakung, Inderalaya Utara, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera, from March 2007 to June 2007. The experimental design used was factorial randomized block design with three replications that consisted of two factors. The first factor was organic fertilizer (0, NAP and NS) and the second factor was unorganic fertilizer levels (0, 25,50,75 and 100% of recomendation doses). The organic fertilizers were applied during vegetatif growth (10, 20 and 35) day after planting by spraying all the leaves and other plant parts and also the soil. The result showed that NAP and NS organic fertilizer did not affect the seed yield but have a tendency to increase seed yield from 5,33 ton/ha become 6, 17 ton/ha (15,76%) at 50% unorganic fertilizer level, whereas NS organic fertilizer can increase seed yield from 5,78 ton/ha become 6,27 ton/ha (8,48%) at 100% unorganic fertilizer level.
