Abstract

The phenolic compound have been isolated and characterizated from ethyl acetate extract of stem bark of Garcinia sizygiifolia. The extraction was done by maseration. Separation and purification were done by column chromatography. The isolated compound was a yellow solids with melting point 243°C-245°C. The structure of this compound was determined based on spectral data including IR, UV, NMR 1-D, NMR 2-D and DEPT. Based on the spectral data analysis were suggested that the isolated compound is a phenol compound.The antioxidant activity of the isolated compound was tested by DPPH (1,1 diphenylpycril hidrazyl) method. The isolated compound showed that active as antioksidant with IC50 82,686 ppm but the activity of the isolated compound is lower than ascorbic acid as the standar.
