Abstract

Research about characterization of H-active natural zeolite preparation by reflux method and calcination using microwave has conducted. Natural zeolite with particle size of 200 mesh was refluxed using H2SO4 as solvent with various concentration of 0.5 N, 1 N, 1.5 N, 2 N. Zeolite had calcined using microwave oven with a temperature of 320°C at various time of 5, 10, 15, 25 minutes. The acidity test of the zeolite with adsorption of NH3 vapor and pyridine vapor in a vacuum desiccator at various time of 4, 8, 16, 24 hours. The results showed that the best adsorption time for the adsorption of NH3 and pyridine vapor obtained each 24 hours. The concentration of H2SO4 to NH3 vapor was optimum adsorpted at 1.5 N and for pyridine vapor at 1 N. The acidity of the zeolite surface 1.7984 mmol/g, total acidity of zeolite 4.8577 mmol/g, the acidity of the zeolite pore 3.0593 mmol/g. The specific surface area of zeolite by 27.9646 x 103 m2/g and radius average pore zeolites at 0.2409 nm.
