Abstract
This research was aimed at studying the effects of Tagetes patula and T. erecta on root gali disease of tomato caused by Meloidogyne incognita and also to verify whether or not the root exudates of Jmpatients balsamina could promot the growth of the nematode population. The research was conducted in Glasshouse and Nematological Laboratory of the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, ffom April to July 2006. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications. The treatments included A: Control, B: T. erecta, C: T. patula, and D: Jmpatients balsamina. The results showed that the best treatment was the exudates of T. patula which could suppress root gali number, egg mass number, nematode population, and could increase the ffesh shoots weight and firesh root weight.
