Abstract
Synthetic insecticides, e.g. organophospate and pyethroid, are common used to control diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Linn.). Survey conducted in West Java and South Sumatera showed that this pest could not be controlled completely by using many insecticides. This experiment was aimed to assess the efficacy of liquid based bio insecticide formulation from Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. to control P. xylostella and C. binotalis this contained. B. bassiana (conidia density 1011 ml'1) liquid was mixed with shrimp shell compost extract 20% and has been applied to each treated plant. Frequencies of treatment application were control to every 5 days, every 10 days and 15 days. Results obtained for P. xylostella observation were 0.57 larvae per plant and severity of damage 16.2% have been found on control. This was hingher than of treated plants. These data were different compared to every 5-, 10-, 15-days application, i.e. 0.31 larvae and 15.3%, 0.35 larvae and 15.7% and 0.35 larvae and 15.9%, respectively. Results obtained for C. pavonana observation were 0.02 larvae per plant and severity of damage 2% have been found on control. These data different compared to every 5-, 10-, 15-days application, i.e. 0.015 larvae and 1.5%, 0.02 larvae and 2% and 0.02 larvae and 2% respectively. This expriment conclusion that 15 days application was the best treatment.
