Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh kepadatan Chaetoceros sp. terhadap laju pertumbuhan populasi Oithona sp. dalam kondisi laboratorium, yang berlangsung dari bulan Agustus sampai bulan Oktober 2007. Variabel yang diamati yaitu laju pertumbuhan populasi Oithona sp. serta kualitas fisika kimia media meliputi temperatur, oksigen terlarut, salinitas, pH, dan amoniak. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan, 3 ulangan. Data diolah dengan analisis sidik ragam (ANNOVA). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pemberian Chaetoceros sp. dengan kepadatan 300.000 sel/ml merupakan kepadatan optimal bagi laju pertumbuhan populasi Oithona sp. (115,50 ind/hari). Pada pemberian Chaetoceros sp. dengan kepadatan 100.000 sel/ml diperoleh laju pertumbuhan populasi Oithona sp. 63,67 ind/hari, sedangkan pemberian Chaetoceros sp. dengan kepadatan 200.000 sel/ml diperoleh laju pertumbuhan populasi 72,17 ind/hari, dan pada kepadatan 400.000 sel/ml diperoleh laju pertumbuhan populasi 62,00 ind/hari.
