Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat alat penyerut daun nenas dengan menggunakan tenaga listrik (motor listrik) serta melakukan uji coba terhadap kemampuan kerja alat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2005 sampai bulan Desember 2005 di Bengkel Program Studi Teknik Pertanian Jurusan Teknologi Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya dan di Desa Senuro Kecamatan Tanjung Batu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ada tiga yaitu : 1) tahap pendekatan rancangan dan analisis teknis, 2) tahap pembuatan alat, 3) Pengujian alat. Alat penyerut daun nenas yang dirancang memiliki kerangka utama terbuat dari besi siku yang mempunyai ukuran dengan panjang 46 cm, lebar 41 cm dan tinggi 67 cm. Motor listrik sebagai tenaga memiliki daya 0,5 hp dengan kecepatan putaran 1440 rpm. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kapasitas alat secara teoritis dan efektif adalah 102,56 g/min dan 41,46 g/min untuk tenaga penggerak listrik dan 38,4 g/'m i n dan 11,1 g/min untuk tenaga manusia. Efisiensi alat adalah 40,48 % untuk tenaga penggerak listrik dan 28,96 % untuk tenaga manusia. Sudut kontak puli terhadap sabuk-v pada poros silinder adalah 0,34 rad. Kecepatan keliling sabuk-V pada poros silinder adalah 6 m/s.
