Abstract

This thesis is entitled "Slums Community Perceptions of the Importance of Basic Sanitation (Case Study of RT 04 Sekanak Area, 28 Ilir Ilir Barat II District, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province)" the problem of basic sanitation is a problem that most often occurs or appears in slum communities, Basic sanitation is the most important environmental need for the community. Basic sanitation includes the availability of clean water, disposal of human waste, disposal of waste water, and healthy housing. The purpose of this study was to understand and determine the perception of the slum community regarding the importance of basic sanitation. This study describes the perception of slum communities on basic sanitation problems that exist in their environment. This research method uses qualitative methods with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study are known based on observations in the field, all people think and agree that basic sanitation in the environment is the most important thing and must be fulfilled, but in reality it is not appropriate, the people of RT 04 have not implemented it in life in their environment, so understanding basic sanitation is still lacking in the community of RT 04.
