Abstract

B. bassiana is one of entomopathogenic ftingus which have potential to be developed as natural control agent. B. bassiana is entomopathogenic fiingus that proved to be effective in killing pest insects, but it had probability to infect non target or important insects such as predator that capable to control pests. The testing of B. bassiana ftingus was done toward natural enemis of A. gossypii that consisted of C. inaequalis and C. transversalis. The objective of this study was to determine mortality level and mortality time of C. inaequalis and C. transversalis immature that were applied with B. bassiana. This study used experimental method that was analyzed by using Chi- square test. Pathogenicity test of B. bassiana was done by trickling of 10 p.1 enthomopathogen ftingus spores at 106 spores/ml concentration toward 10 tails of tested pests of C. inaequalis and C. transversalis immatures, where as control treatment was only trickled with sterile water. The observed parameters were larvae mortality percentage, larvae development to pupae, adult developed, larvae, pupae, abnormal adult, and longevity (LT50). Average mortality of C. inaequalis larvae was 19.683 and control 0.286, where as for C. transversalis was 18.057 and control was 0.286, which was significantly different than control. Larvae infected by B. bassiana showed the on waschange of body color into dark brown color, body larvae became rigid, decrease in size and wrinkle as well as easily broken or fragile. The results showed that average percentage of C. inaegualis adult produced was 70% and control was 89%, where as for C. transversalis adult was 71% and control was 89%. Percentage of adult produced was related to larvae percentage that became into pupae. Percentage of larvae, pupae, and abnormal adult was 0%. For LT50, it showed significant value for C. inaegualis (23.42 days) where as the value was 40.4 days for C. transversalis. It can be concluded that B. bassiana isolate had effect on the life of C. inaegualis with average mortality of 19.683 and it was 18.057 for C. transversalis showed significant difference than control. The average values of LT50 were 23.42 days and 40.4 days respectively for C. inaegualis and C. transversalis.
