Abstract
Wastewater treatment of tapioca starch has been done using Fe304-zeolite composite. Characterization of Fe304-zeoIite composite used SEM and XRD. The evaluated parameter were optimum contact time with variation 0; 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2 hours, effective weight ratio Fe304-zeolite composite with variation 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 mg and optimum pH with variation 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 to decreased Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) value of tapioca wastewater. The SEM database shown the differences surface area size of Fe304 and Fe304-zeolite composite, and based on 20 of XRD database, Fe304 and Fe304-zeolite composite was formed. Before adding Fe304-zeolite composite COD value of wastewater was 5434.755 mg/L; whereas after adding Fe304-zeolite composite at optimum condition (contact time 1 hour, weight of Fe304-zeolite composite 300 mg and pH 5) was COD value of wastewater was 495.24 mg/L with effectiveness 90.88 %.
