Abstract

The secondary metabolite compound from endophytic fungi Fusarium sp of kunyit putih (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg) Roscoe) rhizome plant have been isolated. Isolation began with cultivation of Fusarium sp fungi in 8 L of PDB’s medium (Potato Dextrose Broth) until 21 days. The medium culture was extracted partition used ethyl acetate and then was evaporated. The ethyl acetate extract was separated and purified by chromatography techniques. The pure compound was obtained and then antibacterial activity was tested. Antibacterial activity by disc diffusion method was tested using bacterial test E. coli, S. dysentriae, S. aureus, and B.subtilis. This compound in the form of yellow solid (0.36 g) with melting point 171-172°C. Base on spectroscopy analysis data UV, IR, and NMR showed that result of isolation compound was 5 (4’-ethoxy-2,-hydroxy-5,-methyl-2’,3’- dihydrofuran-3’-yl (hydroxy) methyl-4-isoprophyl-3-methyl-2-pyran-2-on). The structure of isolated compound still has some infirmity and needs to be measured at NOESY and MS. The isolated compound showed antibacterial activity equivalent to the Ampicilin positive control against bacterial test E. coli and S. aureus at a concentration of 500 ppm with inhibition zone diameter respectively 11 mm. Based on these data concluded isolated compound potentially active antibacterial compound.
