Abstract
Sukun (A. communis) is belong to Moraceae family. Traditionally, the flowers of sukun have been used as toothache. According to the uses of flower of this plant as toothache, the antibacterial preliminary test of methanol extract have been done against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Antibacterial evaluation of methanol extract displayed moderate activity at 2000 ppm against both of bacterial test with inhibition zone diameters respectively were 12.1 and 12.5 mm Thus, the objective of the research to isolated and characterized compound from methanol extract of flower of sukun. The isolation process was conducted by extraction, ffactionation and puriflcation while characterization by spectroscopic methods. Extraction was carried out by maceration method while separation and purification by chromatographic technique. A dihydrochalcone have been succesfiil isolated and identified based on spectroscopy data analysis (-NMR, l3C-NMR, HSQC, HMBC, and COSY) i.e, l-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-[8-hydroxy-2-methyl-2-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl)-2H-1 -benzopyran-5-yl]-1 - propanone (AC-3-1).
