Abstract

The research about the influence of variation of catalyst welght towards physical characteristic of hydrocracking of castor oil product with catalyst Mozeolite natural active has been done. Hydrocracking process of curcas oil were conducted with variation of catalyst weight 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2; 3; 4 and 5 g, the flow rate of hydrogen gases 3.5 mL/min and temperature 350°C. Hydrocracking product of castor oil were analysed including to combustion heat, density, viscosity, and refraction index by using bomb calorimeter, picnometer, Ostwald viscometer and reffactometer instrument. The result of this research showed that the best value for combustion heat and viscosity was 45,6070 kJ/g and 2.7574 poise respectively which operated at 3 g of catalyst weight/30 mL castor oil, while the best value of density and refraction index was 0.9695 g/mL and 1.4679 which operated at 2 g and 4 g of catalyst weight/30 mL castor oil. Based upon combustion heat hydrocracking product of castor oil refers to biokerosin while viscosity, density and refraction index refers to biodiesel.
