Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kinerja emitter yang terbuat dari pipa PVC (Poly vinyl chloride) dan kebutuhan daya pompa untuk system aeroponik gravitasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya pada bulan Februari 2005 sampai dengan Mei 2005. Tiap emitter difungsikan untuk meneteskan air ke akar tanaman sesuai dengan kebutuhan air tanaman. Kebutuhan daya pompa dihitung berdasarkan kebutuhan tenaga pada jaringan perpipaan dan emitter, sedangkan keseragaman penyebaran (EU) dihitung berdasarkan debit tiap lubang-lubang emitter. Sebagai perbandingan di lihat pertumbuhan tanaman pada aeroponik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan emitter dapat menyalurkan air ke akar tanaman dan dilihat dari evapotranspirasi tanaman rata-rata sebesar 1,89 mm/hari dengan tinggi tanaman rata-rata 15,5 cm, berat basah brangkasan rata-rata 14,1 gram dan berat kering barangkasan rata-rata 1,82 gram. Koefisien keseragaman (CU) emitter berkisar antara 96,5% sampai 97,63% dan keseragaman penyebaran (EU) berkisar antara 89,08% sampai 91,54% serta kebutuhan daya pompa sebesar 29,32 W atau sebesar 0,039 hp.
