Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of crabshell powder amendment on the population of nematodes M incognita on celery. The research conducted at Nematological Laboratory and Green House of Plants Pest and Diseases Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research was conducted fforn July until October 2005. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with six treatments of crabshell powder included control and four replications. The crabshell powder treatment consisted of B was (l%(w/w)), C (1.5%(w/w)), D (2%(w/w)), E (2.5%(w/w)) and F (3%(w/w)). The parameters observed were gali number, egg mass number, nematode population in soil and soil pH as supporting data. The result showed that crabshell powder did not significantly affected the nematode population in soil and the egg mass number, but significantly affected root gali formation.
