Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai “Pengaruh Variasi Temperatur dan Konsentrasi Minyak Terhadap Rendemen dan Karakteristik Biodiesel dari Minyak Biji Kemiri {Aleurites Moluccana)” menggunakan Katalis NaOH. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada temperatur 50, 60dan 70 °C, dengan konsentrasi minyak biji kemiri 80, 70, 60, 50 dan 40%. Karakteristik produk metil ester yang dihasilkan dari proses transesterifikasi dianalisa dengan mengukur parameter viskositas, berat jenis, indeks setana, kadar residu karbon, kadar air, kandungan sulfur, kandungan sedimen dan titik nyala. Pada konsentrasi 80% minyak biji kemiri denga’n temperature 60 °C diperoleh hasil rendemen optimum yang diperoleh sebesar 89,63% v/v dan metil esternya memiliki karakteristik relatif lebih baik dengan viskositas 5,250 cSt, berat jenis 0,8978 g/cm3 60/60 °F, titik nyala 185 °C, kandungan sedimen 0,05 % berat, kadar sulfur 29,3090 ppm, dan kadar air 446 ppm. Parameter ini memenuhi standar ASTM biodiesel Tetapi beberapa parameter tidak memenuhi standar seperti indeks setana 38,2, residu karbon 0,20 % berat Kata kunci : konsentrasi minyak,rendemen, biodiesel, biji kemiri
