Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh metode Paired Story Telling terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Payaraman. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 kelas, yaitu kelas VII.1 yang berjumlah 20 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VII.2 yang berjumlah 20 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen merupakan kelas yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan metode Paired Story Telling sedangkan kelas kontrol adalah kelas dengan metode konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes tertulis dan teknik pengolahan data menggunakan perhitungan uji-t dengan program komputer SPSS 23. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan hasil tes antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata tes awal kelas eksperimen 63,40 dan kelas kontrol 58,10. sementara hasil tes akhir kelas eksperimen 78,70 dan kelas kontrol 68,85. Dari hasil perhitungan uji-t membuktikan bahwa thitung>ttabel= 4,278 > 2,024, dengan df=38 pada tingkat signifikansi 95%. Dengan demikian, Ha yang berbunyi “Ada perbedaan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi antara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan metode Paired Story Telling dengan siswa yang diajar dengan metode konvensional” diterima. Dengan diterimanya Ha, disimpulkan bahwa metode Paired Story Telling lebih berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Payaraman.
