Abstract

Stem rot in oil palm caused by Ganoderma booninense is a disease that poses the biggest threat to oil palm plantations at home and abroad. Losses caused by this disease reach millions of rupiah per hectare. Appropriate control needs to be done for the losses caused. One of the controls that can be done is biological control using antagonistic fungi. This study aimed to examine the effect of antagonistic fungi on G. boninense infection in oil palm seedlings. This research has been carried out from September to December 2021 in a greenhouse and phytopathology laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments, namely control, TLRF3, TLTF3, TLTF8 with 5 replications. After 4 months of inoculation, the results showed that the oil palm plants had not shown any symptoms on the stems and leaves. However, symptoms have begun to appear in the roots, namely the death of root tissue, and there is a mycelium that begins to grow on the roots. Not many fruit bodies were found, only in TLRF3 treatment with 5 replications, small fruit bodies were found. Treatment with the antagonist fungus Trichoderma sp. TLRF3 isolate can reduce initial infection and treatment with Trichoderma sp. TLTF8 isolate can increase plant growth.
