Abstract

Red ginger is a horticultural plant that has many benefits and is dominated in Indonesia but the availability of red ginger in the country has not been stable. To increase the production of red ginger was cultivated which was to provide macronutrients at the right dose if the optimal growth of red ginger will produce red ginger rhizomes in high quantities and quality. This study aims to find out the right doses of Nitrogen and Potassium fertilization for the growth of red ginger plants. This research was conducted in Talang Kelapa, Alang Alang Lebar of Palembang City from March 2021 until June 2021. The research method used a factorial randomized complete block design with 2 factors, The first factor was N fertilizer and the second factor was K fertilizer. The dose of N fertilizer consists of N0 = Control; N1 = 150 kg/ha (3.6 g/Polybag); N2 = 225 kg/ha (5.50 g/Polybag); N3 = 300 kg/ha (7.50 g/Polybag). The dose of K fertilizer consists of K0 = Control; K1 = 100 kg/ha (2.5 g/Polybag); K2 = 200 kg/ha (5g/Polybag); K3 = 350 kg/ha (8.4 g/Polybag). The observed parameters were the increase of plant height and number of leaves, tiller number, green level of leaves, leaf area, root length, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots, rhizome fresh weight, plant fresh weight, and plant dry weight. The results showed that the treatment of various doses of N and K fertilizer did not differ markedly between the treatment on the parameters of leaf area, rhizome weights, root weights, and total weights. The best interaction of N and K fertilizer for growth is by giving N fertilizer 5.5 g/plant and potassium fertilizer 8.4 g/plant. Treatment of N3 has shown the highest height increase at 4 WAP, and K2 treatment has shown the highest height increase.
