Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between Problem Focused Coping Strategy and Academic Procrastination in UPT Students of SMA Negeri 10 Ogan Ilir. The population in this study was class XI, which amounted to 102 students, the sampling technique was using random sampling, totaling 82 people. This study uses data collection methods problem focused coping strategy scale and academic procrastination scale obtained through direct distribution of printed instruments. Data analysis using the Pearson-product Moment method with the results of the correlation coefficient rxy = -0.766 and p = 0.000 (p <0.05), meaning that the hypothesis that there is a negative relationship between problem focused coping strategies and academic procrastination in UPT SMA Negeri 10 Ogan students Ilir accepted. The more effective the use of problem focused coping strategies, the lower academic procrastination. On the other hand, the more ineffective the problem focused coping strategy, the higher the academic procrastination. The contribution of problem focused coping strategies to academic procrastination is 58.70%, this indicates that problem focused coping strategies have an effect on academic procrastination.
