Abstract
The flow of globalization in the current era can have a bad impact on a country if the country is not ready to face the current as a result of intense competition with producers from other countries, it will lead to a lack of market pairs for producers in that country. One of the efforts made by the Indonesian government in the face of increasingly stringent globalization, especially to maintain its national economic security, is to conduct bilateral cooperation with Malaysia, because both countries are the largest palm oil producing countries in the world so that they will be able to increase the competitiveness of palm oil in the market. globally, and also so that negative issues regarding oil palm can be avoided. This study aims to explain how the form of bilateral cooperation carried out by Indonesia-Malaysia in increasing competitiveness in the palm oil sector. The study was analyzed using the theory of bilateral cooperation and interdependence. The type of research used in this research is descriptive analytic, using secondary data sources through books, journals, articles, official websites and other supporting sources that are related to the problem being studied The results of this study indicate that the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia in the palm oil sector was stated in the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2006, 2008, and 2010. and the average number of palm oil exports produced in the 2010 to 2020 period, so that the competitiveness of the two countries as palm oil producers is increasing when compared to other countries. But on the other hand, this collaboration has not been able to eradicate the negative campaign of oil palm carried out by the parties.
