Abstract

Fe (III)-IIPs (Ion Imprinted Polymers) were synthesized by cooling heating method with time for 7 hours including 1 hour of cooling at a temperature of -5℃, 6 hours of heating at a temperature variation of 75℃ held for 3 hours, 80℃ held for 2 hours and 85℃ held for 1 hour. The synthesis of Fe (III)-IIPs involved Fe (NO3)3 as analyte with an average diameter of 18.23 nm, Methacrylic Acid (MAA) as a functional monomer, Ethylene Glycol Dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a cross-linker and Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) as the initiator of the reaction and ethanol as a polar porogen. The number of cavities or templates formed in Fe (III)-IIPs is influenced by variations in concentration (3 M and 6 M) and also the type of solution (HCl and HNO3) used during the Fe^(3+) ion extraction process. Carried out include FTIR characterization to determine the chemical bonds of Fe^(3+) ions which are characterized by the NO_3^(- )functional group and SEM characterization to determine the number of cavities or templates distributions. The results obtained for IIPs HCl 3 M, IIPs HCl 6 M, IIPs HNO3 3 M and IIPs HNO3 6 M have a transmittance percentage of 94,258%; 95,666%; 92.735% and 92.735%. The increase in concentration in HCl increased the elution rate in Fe (III) polymer, while in HNO3 there was no change and no effect occurred. HCl solution has a better performance in removing Fe^(3+) ions than HNO3 solution. The largest distribution of cavities was found in the IIPs HCl 6 M sample with a total of 498 cavities on a scale <100 nm totaling 470.
