Abstract

Cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L) is known as one of the vegetables consumed by Indonesian people as salads, pickles, and salads. In addition, cucumber is also used as an industrial ingredient in cosmetics and medicines because it can help moisturize the face and can reduce high blood pressure. Cucumber is a creeping or semi-vine that is included in the annual plant. insect visitors to cucumber plants consist of the Order Coleoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, and Thysanoptera. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of insects associated with cucumber plants located in Kuripan Village, Empat Petulai Dangku District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. Observation of insects associated with cucumber plants was carried out by direct observation (scan sampling). For soil insects, pitfall traps and yellow sticky traps were used for active insects. The results obtained from direct observations made for 2 weeks obtained 28 species of insects from 7 orders and 22 families. The orders of insects found were the orders Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera, Odonata, Hemiptera, Homoptera, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera, most of which acted as pests and the rest acted as pollinators, natural enemies and insect visitors to cucumber plants. Soil insects trapped in the pitfall trap found 12 species from 7 different orders and consisted of 10 families of these orders, namely Collembola, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Coleoptera, Spirostreptida, Orthoptera, and Hemiptera which act as decomposers or decomposers for plant visitors. The active insects trapped in the yellow sticky trap obtained 20 species from 7 different orders and consisted of 13 families. The insect orders found were from the orders Diptera, Coleptera, Orthoptera, Odonata, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera.
