Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of playing gadgets on the social interaction of children aged (4-5) years with family and peers in Talang Seleman Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were two children (4-5) years old, two parents who had children (4-5) years old and two peers. Data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. Playing gadgets is an activity that does not involve too much physical activity with the aim of obtaining pleasure. Gadgets are designed in a sophisticated, attractive and smart way so that playing gadgets is a very fun play activity for children at this time. Playing gadgets has a positive impact if it is used properly and also has a negative impact if it is not used properly. The results of the study stated that playing gadgets had an impact on the social interaction of children aged (4-5) years with their families, namely children who did not care about their families and had physical violence behaviors such as slapping, kicking, pinching. The ability of children to work together is said to be good with the education of parents in children. Then the negative impact of playing gadgets on the social interactions of children aged (4-5) years with peers, namely children have an attitude of not caring about friends, decreased children's ability to socialize and have physical violence behavior such as slapping, kicking, pinching.
