Abstract
The research about heavy metal content of Pb and Cu in water and sediment of Musi River Estuary has been done on September 2008. The aim of this research were to determint of Pb and Cu and to compare the concentration each stations of Musi River Estuary. The resulted of this research was expected could give the information of territorial water condition in Musi River Estuary. The samples were taken by purpossive sampling methods on eight stations. The heavy metal content of Pb and Cu in water and sediment were measured by Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometry (AAS), then the result of this research was compared with water quality Standard for biota by Kepmen LH No. 51 tahun 2004 and Pergub Sumsel No. 16 tahun 2005. The heavy metal content Pb and Cu in revolving water between 0,0006 - 0.0547 mg/L and 0.0049 - 0.0391 mg/L with the threshold < 0.008 mg/L. As for the heavy metal content Pb and Cu in revolving sediment between 0.3212 - 0.6493 mg/L and 0.14448 - 0.5695 mg/L and it was not yet of the Standard quality of the stipulations. The result of the research showed the heavy metal content of Pb and Cu in sediment was bigger than the heavy metal content of Pb and Cu in water. The concentration of the heavy metal content of Pb and Cu in the Musi River Estuary has passed Standard the quality of the stipulation and will in creasse as resulting of many industry in the region of Musi River, so it occurrence of pollution.
